For the commercial, I am working with Jada-Ann Kates, Aloria Bryant, and Tamia Ellis. We decided to form this group together because we all felt like we would be a good fit for one another. One big reason I chose to work with them is because I live close to them. Since we are all in the same area, it makes it easier for us to meet up in person when needed. My parents also already know them, so I don’t have to introduce new people into my home or explain who they are. That makes things a lot more comfortable for me and for my family.

Another reason I chose to work with them is because we have similar work ethics. I know that they are responsible students who will actually do their part. I believe getting our work done on time will not be a problem because everyone in the group takes their grades seriously. We are all motivated to do well in this class, which means we can keep each other on track. When one of us might feel stuck, another person in the group can step in and help. I think that balance will make our project stronger.

I also feel like we all communicate well with each other. Since we already know one another, it is easy to speak up, share ideas, and listen. We don’t really have the awkward stage that some new groups go through, which saves time. We also have different strengths, so everyone can bring something unique to the table. Each of us has our own ideas and perspectives, so when we put them together it makes our project more creative and well-rounded.

Overall, I feel confident about working with Jada, Aloria, and Tamia. I know that our group will be able to work together without too many issues. Since we already trust each other and know how we work, it makes the process smoother. I believe that this group has a good chance of turning everything in on time. I am glad I got to pick a group where I feel comfortable and motivated.

My Commercial

  This was the first big project my group and I worked on together, and I feel good about how it turned out. Even though there were parts that were stressful, like acting in the ghost costume and helping with the decorations, seeing the final video made it worth it. I can also notice things that could have been better, like timing in certain scenes or how the props showed up on camera. Still, I’m proud of how much effort I put in and how the commercial came together overall. This project gave me more confidence for future productions and showed me that even small details matter in the final product.

Production Blog: Directing While Acting

 Even though I was acting in the commercial, I also helped direct parts of the filming process. It was important to me that the scenes looked right on camera, so I gave feedback whenever something seemed off. Sometimes I noticed props in the wrong place and suggested moving them so they would show up better. I also paid attention to how the decorations looked in the background and if they matched the mood of the scene. While wearing the ghost costume, I had limited visibility, but I could still tell when the timing of a scene was off. I spoke up when I felt a line or an action did not come across the way it should. In some moments, I even suggested reshooting so the reactions would feel more natural. It was stressful to balance acting and directing at the same time.
