Intro Blog

My name is Qetsia Duclos, and I am in 10th grade. I would describe myself as creative, thoughtful, and determined, but also someone who takes time to open up to others. Outside of school, I am involved in colorguard, and I am also very active in my church community. Baking is another hobby of mine, and it has become something I enjoy both for myself and for others. Along with colorguard, I play the piano, which gives me another way to express myself. Music is a big part of my life, and I enjoy listening to artists such as Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean, Drake, and Jhené Aiko. I also like watching anime, since it combines interesting stories with unique art styles. When it comes to reading, thrillers and romance novels are my favorite because they keep me engaged from start to finish. One thing about me is that I enjoy trying new experiences, even if they are outside my comfort zone. Family is also very important to me, especially because of my Haitian background. I have one younger brother, and my extended family is very large, so I am often meeting new relatives. Being Haitian has shaped the way I see family and community, and I am grateful for that part of my culture. In school, my favorite subject is anatomy because I like learning about how the human body works. My least favorite subject is math, since I often find it confusing and repetitive. On weekends, I am usually busy with church activities such as baking for the kids, decorating, or preparing lessons. If I do have free time, I like to spend it resting or in the kitchen baking something new. I would say I am more introverted, since I enjoy staying home and it takes me a while to feel comfortable around new people. If I could travel anywhere, I would go to Haiti, since I have never been there but it is an important part of who I am. One accomplishment I am proud of is hosting a baking fundraiser, which raised money for my Sunday School. My parents inspire me the most, since they push me to work hard and stay focused on my goals. For this school year, I want to stay on A/B honor roll and pass all of my AICE exams. I usually work well in groups or on my own, depending on the situation and the people I am with. In Media Studies, I am excited to learn more about how media works and to create my own projects. I am especially looking forward to the commercial assignment, since I already have some creative ideas I want to try. Overall, I would describe myself as someone who values faith, family, and education while also being open to new opportunities and experiences.
