Production Blog: Setting Up The Decorations
When I started getting the set ready, my main job was putting up decorations. I worked on the lights, signs, and caution tape to make the space look like Halloween. At first, I did not have everything I needed. I realized I was missing tape, so I had to make a quick trip to Publix. That part slowed me down, but it made the setup easier once I had it. The tape kept the signs and decorations from falling down, which was important. I also hung up a fake ghost and a bat to help the scene look more complete. Later on, I had to do a fitting for the ghost costume to make sure it worked. The fitting was a very fun process. It was hard figuring out how to make a bed sheet fit; however, the whole process of it was very funny. After the fitting, I actually ended up playing the ghost character myself. I wasn’t ready to record at first, so switching into that role was stressful. Still, it ended up working out better than I expected. The decorations themselves didn’t really have one main prop. It was more like everything together made the set look good. The caution tape and the lights made the scene stand out on camera. The ghost and bat added a small but important touch in the background. The hardest part was dealing with the lighting outside. It was very bright, but without it, the outside would have been too dark. In the end, I just left the light on even though it wasn’t perfect. Even with those small problems, I felt relieved when everything finally fell into place. I felt proud knowing I helped the decorations look right and made the scene work.
