Jada’s Pitch
Song: Special by SZA
Pitch 1: This music video follows the story of an insecure girl who is dealing with heartbreak. As she tries to get over her failed relationship, she reminisces on all the good times she had with her ex. During those times she looked happier and more confident, but she slowly realises that she was changing into someone she was not the longer the relationship continued. Now in the present, she is trying to come to terms with the person she has become due to her ex.
Conversation: This pitch was a good contender, but in the end we decided not to choose it. It had a great storyline but wasn’t as interesting as another pitch. We decided that this idea was a little too elaborate and would be hard to film. We also didn't choose this pitch because it would involve one of us dressing up as a guy or convincing one of our male friends to play the ex.
Tamia’s Pitch
Song: Beaches by Beabadoobee
Pitch 2: A girl and her close friend spend one last summer together before she has to move away. They spend their last days together on the beach as they remember the fun moments they shared. Eventually, it comes time for her to pack her bags and say goodbye to her friend and the life she once had there. In the end, she smiles, realizing that those times will always be a special part of her, and that this summer was one she will never forget.
Conversation: After discussing the pitch, we decided that this one was the most interesting. The concept of two friends having to be apart but still finding a way to keep each other close is refreshing. We found this pitch to be the easiest to convey and film within the time we had, since we would have less trouble figuring out who would act, and it would be a more forward and less elaborate story.
Aloria’s Pitch
Song: Man In The Mirror by Michael Jackson
Pitch 3: This Music Video is about a story of a person who was terrible to everyone and everything around them. As the music video takes place we see them look in the mirror and have a close-up shot on their eyes as they realize what kind of person they are and decide they wanna make the world a better place. They try to make the world a better place at first, but they then realize in order to make the world a better place they must take a look at themselves and make a change. They then change as they see others change with them and become better. In the end we see them walking happily off in the distance.
Conversation: We didn't choose this pitch because of how complicated some scenes would be. Making the mirror scene would be hard to hide the camera as we are recording the main person. The story of the pitch seemed like it didn't make sense as a music video either. Overall it seems like a good idea on the surface, but in filming it would be proven difficult.
Qetsia’s Pitch
Song: Let You Break My Heart Again by Laufey
Pitch 4: A girl reflects on a past relationship as she spends the day on the beach. She sets up a small picnic in the sand, sipping coffee and eating pie. As she walks along the water watching the waves, she lets the ocean remind her of everything she is trying to let go of. The beach represents peace but also distance, showing how she’s learning to move on even while her heart aches.
Conversation: Although a good idea, we didn’t choose this pitch because the story would be too complicated to film. It was also similar to another pitch we had, but we decided the theme of those wasn’t right for us.
Chosen Pitch: We decided on filming our music video to the song Beaches by Beabadoobee. The music video will be about a girl and her close friend who spent one last summer together before she has to move away.
