Planning Blog-Music Video

 Props:

Some of our props will be polaroid photos of the two best friends which will be used when the friend who moves away reminisces about her old friendship. Other props will include cardboard boxes, beach ball,  suitcases, and the polaroid camera itself. 


Costumes:

In our music video, there will be two characters being filmed, with each character having two costumes for each filming location. The first character will be the main character’s close friend. The main character’s close friend will wear a pink swimsuit top and black shorts at the Fort Lauderdale Beach location. At the second location, Tamia’s house driveway, the character will wear a Red T-shirt with black jeans. The second character will be the main character. The main character will wear a black swimsuit top and bottom with a white cover up at the Fort Lauderdale Beach location. At the second location, Tamia’s house driveway, the character will wear a black long sleeve shirt with ripped jeans.


Schedule: 

On 11/1/25, our group researched the conventions of an indie rock music video.

On 11/2/25, our group decided the props, costumes, location list, schedule, and back up plan for the music video.

On 11/7/25 our group will create a storyboard which will outline each scene within our music video. 

Between 11/8/25 - 11/30/25, our group will meet on weekends and weekdays if needed to film the scenes required for the music video.

Between 12/1/25-12/3/25, our group will edit the scenes together and add any last touches to complete the music video.

Backup Plan:

As a backup plan if we can't make it to the beach or it's raining at the beach we will find a park where it's not raining and record it there. We would try to make it so they have fun at the park on the swings,and walking around, going down a slide to give it the kid feeling the friends had together. If we also can't go to the park, we could also try to record in someone's backyard and make it look different every time.

My Commercial

  This was the first big project my group and I worked on together, and I feel good about how it turned out. Even though there were parts that were stressful, like acting in the ghost costume and helping with the decorations, seeing the final video made it worth it. I can also notice things that could have been better, like timing in certain scenes or how the props showed up on camera. Still, I’m proud of how much effort I put in and how the commercial came together overall. This project gave me more confidence for future productions and showed me that even small details matter in the final product.

Production Blog: Directing While Acting

 Even though I was acting in the commercial, I also helped direct parts of the filming process. It was important to me that the scenes looked right on camera, so I gave feedback whenever something seemed off. Sometimes I noticed props in the wrong place and suggested moving them so they would show up better. I also paid attention to how the decorations looked in the background and if they matched the mood of the scene. While wearing the ghost costume, I had limited visibility, but I could still tell when the timing of a scene was off. I spoke up when I felt a line or an action did not come across the way it should. In some moments, I even suggested reshooting so the reactions would feel more natural. It was stressful to balance acting and directing at the same time. The costume made it harder because I could not see clearly, yet I still had to keep track of the scene. I learned to focus on both what I was doing as an actor and how the overall shot looked.
