Production Blog: Beach Day Filming
When I arrived at the beach, the first thing I did was set everything up for filming. I put towels down and organized the area so the space looked ready for the scenes. I also brought snacks and set them up so I could take breaks in between filming. I picked a spot on the beach where there were not many people. Since it was a Wednesday, it was easier to find an open and quiet area. I chose a location that looked good on camera and would not have random people walking in the background. For my outfit, I wore a swimsuit with a cover up, and I changed my hair to make it look like a different day from the earlier scenes. My role was being the best friend, so most of my acting involved hanging out at the beach and doing simple actions like running, sitting, and having fun. I wanted my acting to look natural so the video would match the calm and emotional feeling of the song. I suggested several camera angles, such as over the shoulder shots and eye level shots. I thought these angles would help show the closeness of the characters. The lighting was a challenge because the weather was cloudy. The wind also made filming harder, and it felt colder than expected since it is fall. The sun was setting very quickly because I started filming around five. I had to work fast to make sure the scenes were captured before the light disappeared. Even with the challenges, the beach setting made the footage look soft and emotional. The scene I am most proud of is the one that starts as an over the shoulder shot and then pans around to show the characters walking on the beach. I thought this shot looked different and creative compared to the original idea. Overall, filming at the beach taught me how important timing and natural light are when shooting outside. It also helped me understand how much planning it takes to get the right shot in changing weather.
