Production Blog: Filming at My Friends House
The first thing I did when I arrived at my friend’s house was take the photos for the music video. I helped get the box and the photos put up on the wall. I also decided where the photos should go so that they looked natural and meaningful. I had to change my outfit for each photo and figure out the best lighting and setting. I also had to plan what poses I would do in each picture, so I went online to find inspiration. My role as an actor was to play the best friend, which meant I had to act as if I was meeting up with someone. I also helped suggest camera angles, especially when we went outside. The lighting outside was challenging because some areas were very shady while others were very bright. I had to figure out the best spots to take the photos so they would turn out well. I had to do several retakes for some scenes because too much of the background could be seen. I almost ran out of Polaroid film because the lighting made it difficult to get good shots. I helped adjust the photos on the wall and made sure they looked consistent for filming. During the filming of the indoor scenes, I focused on keeping my performance natural and relaxed. I also paid attention to how the camera captured the background and my movements. I helped decide where to stand and how to move so the shots would match the story. Some of the retakes were frustrating, but they made the final footage much better. I learned how important lighting is, even for small details like Polaroid photos. I also learned how to combine acting with helping set up the scene. My favorite scene from this day was filmed outside at the house because it represents the last time the two main characters will see each other. Overall, filming at my friend’s house taught me a lot about preparation, acting, and attention to detail.
