Figuring Out the Sound
For this part of editing, I mainly focused on fixing and adjusting the sound, which was honestly harder than I expected at first. Even though I was starting to understand Capcut more, working with audio felt like a whole different challenge. In the beginning, the sound did not line up with my clips the way I wanted it to, and that made certain scenes feel awkward or off. I had to figure out how to trim, split, and move audio without messing up the timing of the visuals. It took a lot of small adjustments to make everything match correctly. At first, I kept second guessing myself because I was not sure if I was placing things in the right spots. Moving around the scream in the scene was probably the hardest part because it had to hit at the exact right moment to actually be effective. If it was even slightly off, the scene would not feel as intense. I kept replaying that part over and over until it finally sounded right. Once I got into the groove of editing the audio, it started to feel a lot easier and more natural. I normally do not use Capcut for editing, but after spending more time with it, I actually started to like the interface more than I thought I would. It became easier to see how the timeline worked and how sound and visuals connect together. I also learned how much sound really affects the mood of a scene, especially in a horror opening like mine. Small changes in volume or timing made a huge difference in how suspenseful everything felt. Even though it was frustrating at first, it ended up being kind of fun experimenting with different placements and effects. I learned to be more patient and pay attention to small details instead of rushing through it. By the end of it, I felt way more confident editing audio than I did at the start. I even noticed that the skills I practiced here started helping me when I edited other small personal projects outside of class. Overall, this part of editing showed me that sound is just as important as visuals, and once I understood how to control it better, the whole opening started to come together more smoothly.
